Washington Post Select App Reviews

Very One Sided

This is very biased media. Every article reads like an opinion piece. I just want facts, I can come up with my own opinion. Totally ignores the majority views of America.

All flash, no substance

The app, for the subscription I have paid for, doesnt show the same amount of news as I can get online for free.

Real Reporting

I very much appreciate the Washington Post investment in journalism and creating an app that looks great and is easy to use.

Wonderful app

Clear overview, easy to scroll, easy to open full articles, app does not crush, what else could one wish. Love it.

1 of 2 of the best newspapers

The mobile app, like paper itself, is easy to use opens with choice of what is available AKA WHAT DOES READER WANT TO turn to? The mobile version of a table of contents. Columnists are the best and daily cartoon is first class.

Good app.. Not so good news

July 2016 being one of the busiest months in U.S. Election politics, it is expected that most of the news will cater to related topics. The newspaper has an obvious bias for one of the parties. So it is expected to have a lot more laudatory and insightful articles on that party compared to the other one. But the ratio seems skewed to the extent that the news seem almost untrustworthy. On the other hand, the app is well designed and works great.

Works well

Its a great paper, and the app works well.

Choose this one

This is by far the better of the two Washington Post apps. You can read full stories without being hit by the 10-article limit and subscription demand.

WaPo reporting is 5 stars, the app is not...

WaPos journalism these days is vastly improved compared to just a few years ago. Perhaps the Bezos purchase, no matter what you think of the guy, was the shot in the arm the paper required to regain its past respectable footing. Seems like WaPo is getting back to the Bernstein and Woodward-style reporting thats been abandoned by so many of the old school newspaper outlets struggling to square the new realities of the digital age. Surprisingly though, WaPo cant get the app-side of the equation right. This digital platform is painful to navigate and visually over-complicated (despite the supposed simplicity of the tile-style article browsing). The silly rolodex graphic effect as you scroll through stories is hard on the eyes and leaves me with a slight motion sickness-like feeling. I contacted their support team to ask if there is a way to turn off the unnecessary visual effect and never heard back. Dont download this app. Youre much better off browsing WaPos mobile site itself through safari or whatever mobile browser you use.

No access

I sign-up, paid $9.99, and do not have access to the articles. I sent an email and no reply. So the content maybe good but there is problem with access and customer service.

Best news app

This is a great news app. The use of the resolution and graphs.

Good App.

I like the functionality of the app, I have been a Post fan for a long time, and this is a great way to subscribe. The split screen on the iPad and the scrolling screen on the iPhone are clever variations that make good use of the devices. I do have occasional problems with it freezing up on my Kindle Fire while loading a new issue, deleting and reinstalling seems to fix it, but it can be frustrating.

Its not the newspaper

I thought I was getting the whole newspaper. Its just articles that dont refresh very often. At least its faster than CNN app.

Very nice app

The reader in me thanks the WP for not pushing sound and movies on me. This is a very nice layout.

Good detail

Too many sites only give quick snapshots of stories. I like this format - its uniquely detailed

Good app

Good app for getting the news from original sources.

I only subscribe to 1 paper

This one. Because they have 20+ reporters assigned to the Trump campaign. Theres something going on there . . .

Love WP

Facts come from verified and verifiable sources and opinions are both thoughtful and evidence-based.

Too cute by half

This new WP app will add vertigo to your morning routine. Please WP, stick to content - sans bling.

Good app

Love the layout and ability to expand stories. Right after downloading had a lot of issues with it shutting down after opening. That seems to have stopped though.
